Christ Church, Russell

Some History:

This concept was started by the late Anne Shaw in 1994. She was the first person to be listed as a friend of Christ Church. Currently, there are 71 members. It is a meaningful way to keep in contact with Christ Church, Russell – the oldest working church in New Zealand.

The mother Anglican Church of New Zealand in its Mission Statement says:

‘To keep the faith through acts one to another and within the community at large’

i.e. To develop friends of Christ Church by encouraging people to attend weekly services and special events.

A regular bi-annual newsletter keeps the “Friends” up to date with changes and events that take place during the church year.
